Open iSCSI SANs
LeftHand Networks' open iSCSI SANs are based on open industry standard protocols and enterprise-class x86 storage servers and powered by SAN/iQ, the industry's first open storage software platform. Open iSCSI SANs provide you with interoperability, cost-effectiveness, and performance in your data centers. LeftHand gives you the choice and flexibility to purchase the hardware platform that best fits your performance, capacity, and budget requirements.
SAN/iQ software transforms enterprise class x86 servers into storage servers to create a SAN. Each storage server contains processing power, RAM, cache, disk drives, and bandwidth. By breaking your storage system in to small, fully functional building blocks, you have the flexibility to redeploy your assets and reconfigure your storage system with no downtime. SAN/iQ aggregates all of these resources into a single system, helping you to avoid traditional storage bottlenecks such as a limited number of network ports, controller bandwidth, and cache size as you add grow your SAN.
SAN/iQ
SAN/iQ is the industry's first and only open software platform built from the ground up to deliver iSCSI SANs with enterprise-class features running on x86 server hardware. The SAN/iQ storage platform greatly simplifies storage provisioning, improves data availability, and lets you manage your SAN from a single intuitive GUI, regardless of the mix of platforms.
The patented distributed architecture of the SAN/iQ platform enables:
- Advanced data protection, availability and performance with LeftHand Networks unique network RAID technology
- Enhanced disaster recovery solutions via synchronous data replication, snapshots and remote copy
- Optimized volume management and storage utilization through thin provisioning and auto-grow functionality
- Easy-to-use centralized management of all SAN resources, regardless of location
Enterprise Class x86 Partner Support
A breadth of platforms supported by SAN/iQ -- including the IBM System x3650, HP ProLiant DL320s, and the Network Storage Module 160 – gives you the ability to match availability and performance within your application and SAN environments using tiered storage. Choose the hardware platforms and drive types (SCSI, SATA, and SAS) that best suit your performance requirements and growth patterns, all managed by LeftHand's SAN/iQ storage software platform. Select the number of storage modules required to provide the capacity you need today, then scale your SAN just-in-time - without downtime. Purchase only what you need today and don't get locked into a large one time capital expenditure.
Virtual Storage Server Support
A virtual storage server is created by running SAN/iQ on a virtual machine. By clustering multiple virtual storage servers together, you can transform the internal storage of your physical servers into a virtual SAN in the same way you can cluster multiple enterprise class x86 servers into a SAN.
A cluster of virtual storage servers delivers the same scalability, high availability, reliability and integrated feature set of a traditional LeftHand SAN, utilizing hardware resources that already exist within your IT environment. By creating a virtual SAN from existing hardware, you can more cost effectively deploy server virtualization HA/DR features that depend on networked storage. Don't let the disk drives spinning in your physical networked storage servers go to waste -- implement a virtual SAN. |
